What I do

I want to cultivate thriving treescapes that increase our well-being and the health of our planet. We can transform cities and communities with the power of Urban Forests.

I have included some of my services below. As a fledgling business I will be developing my offer, so please get in touch if you would like something specific

Consultancy

I can provide input from both the technical side of Arboriculture and also working effectively with the public. I can also provide guidance on best practice when consulting the public around trees.

I am currently working on several academic projects including work with Sheffield University and the NERC funded Branching Out project.

A local authority got in touch about how to avoid protest and unhappiness when implementing a city centre tree renewal project where several trees were due to be felled. My advice helped steer them in the right direction, and now those that originally objected are advocated for the project.

Events

Public events and conferences

I have extensive experience of putting together public events that showcase aspects of urban nature in creative and engaging ways. I also coordinate or facilitate workshops and conferences. I am currently working with Trees for Cities on their Tree People event which will be held in June 2024

Urban Forest Training

Would you like to know more about the trees in your city? I can provide training courses for anyone who works with or has an interest in trees and woodlands.

Topics could include:

  • Overview of Urban Forestry
  • Optimal methods of Tree Planting and Establishment
  • Urban Trees and society
  • Pests and Diseases of Urban Trees and Woods
  • Trees and Planning
  • Creative approaches to understanding around the Urban Forest

Media and communication

People and Trees

I possess a wealth of knowledge and expertise regarding trees and their significance in various aspects of human life.

I am able to provide insights on the connections individuals have with trees, particularly the conflict surrounding Sheffield's Trees, as well as the way that people have relied on trees for food, products and stories over the millennia.

Additionally, I am well-versed in arboriculture and understand the biomechanics, physiology and ecology of trees as well as the laws that seek to protect them and ensure they are safe.

I am eager to share my expertise and offer valuable perspectives on these topics.
