I bring a wealth of knowledge spanning arboriculture, urban planning, communication and culture, offering a holistic view of the dynamic interaction between people and trees.

 

From delivering impact and knowledge exchange for projects, communication including TV, radio, press and podcasts, I  seek to redefine the way the public perceive and interact with our natural environment, getting the balance right between health, nature and the climate.

Catherine Nuttgens

Catherine is a  Chartered Forester and certified Arboriculturalist with over two decades of experience working at the intersection of people, trees, and landscapes. Her current roles include Strategic lead for the Street Tree Partnership and Project Manager of Trees Together South Yorkshire. Her previous roles include as UK Urban Tree Lead at the Woodland Trust and Community Forestry Manager at Sheffield City Council. Catherine served as the lead external judge for the National Trust’s Sycamore Gap Trees of Hope project

She regularly speaks about trees and forests in national media outlets including BBC News, and BBC Radio 4’s Today Programme and the World Tonight. She has also featured in national newpapers including The Guardian, The Telegraph and others.

Her expertise spans arboriculture, landscape heritage, education, technology and the arts. She is passionate about using creative, collaborative approaches to help everyone unlock the joy and wonder of the natural environment. Catherine believes that by enabling everyone to appreciate and understand the value of nature, we can create a brighter future for both people and the planet.
