International Perspective

Leading the Urban Programme at the Woodland Trust

As the leader of the Urban Programme, I oversaw far reaching projects such as the Tree Equity Score and as a part of the National Trust's Urban Forest Accelerator partnership, and more local projects such as the Greening Grantham initiative. I managed the Urban Team and provided expert guidance on urban issues related to Urban Forestry and Trees under Threat for the Trust. I was responsible for promoting the Programme through national and regional media channels and developing partnerships with a diverse range of stakeholders, including community groups, charities, statutory bodies, and policymakers at both national and international levels.

This experience not only deepened my understanding of the common challenges and opportunities in treescapes nationwide, but also shed light on unique issues faced by specific locations. Additionally, I built relationships with those who spearhead good practice in Urban Forestry in mapping, arboriculture, landscape architecture and media, both nationally and internationally.
